Born in Sydney, Australia, Brett studied arts and science subjects and excelled in these through school and tertiary education. Brett travelled extensively throughout Australia visiting some of the remotest indigenous communities in the Australian desert. This inspired him to embark on a series of adventures abroad taking him to Canada, the United States of America, England, Europe and numerous island countries seeking out tribal art and culture.

Brett, on returning set up a stone and metal workshop in Byron Bay NSW to create his own niche drawing from his worldly experiences. His work began to progress into three dimensional forms utilising wood, stone and steel with his art eventually leading Brett to experiment with gold and silver. With size as an expression block Brett switched to bronze and aluminium. These particular mediums suit the high impact quality of his work.

Over the past 15 years Brett has independently survived from his artistic expressions, creating his own shapes and designs. He has obtained many commissions from architects, interior designers, councils, corporate clients, individual collectors and other artists, the largest of which has been the ongoing work with internationally renowned glass artist Colin Heaney. This has expanded his knowledge of glass and bronze as artistic mediums.

He now works from his own studio/foundry in Lismore NSW which allows him to cast his own work and experiment with different ideas using bronze, aluminium, copper and glass.  Brett has found a unique style in which to express his inner passion and creativity. He is an artist who seeks direction but who will not be harnessed. His work is greatly appreciated globally and especially locally.

The positive ambiance that is reflected in his pieces has resulted in a significant demand for his works both within Australia and Internationally.

Apart from Australia his work can be found in collections in Bahrain, England, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, USA and Vietnam. His works are exhibited and stocked widely in all capital cities in Australia.

artist statement

“In an age of change, progress and disposability, great strength can be found in the longevity of bronze, man’s first metal and still one of the most resilient. The attempt to blend the mystique and the modern together harmoniously still remains an enormous challenge. My style differs from the classical mould and is more representative of today’s living styles; streamlined, simple and able to blend with a diverse range of interior atmospheres”.

“In today’s disposable society my products are forever!  Enjoy your artefact I enjoyed making it…” Brett
